Cymbidium
Evergreen plant with narrow leaves, reaching 60-90 cm in height. Solid green Pseudobulb are eight long, narrow leaves each. Flowers, reaching 5-10 cm in diameter (depending on variety) appear on peduncles that grow from the base of young Pseudobulb. Flowers appear at the end of the calendar year, but the flower stalks begin to form and grow during the summer, revealing them in due time. The modern hybrids bloom in different seasons, depending on the variety, allowing you to have a flourishing Cymbidium virtually any time of year. Flowering them going at different times, at different times of the year, lasting up to 3 months or more under the terms of cultivation. Especially popular around the world enjoy miniature Cymbidium hybrids. Originally they were mainly from Japan and China.
Plant care
Temperature. Summer: 24-29 °C - day and 10-16 °C - at night. At rest, it is necessary to reduce the temperature, preferably 18-24 °C during the day and 7-13 °C at night. These temperature changes are necessary, otherwise Cymbidium will not bloom.
Lighting. Cymbidium svitlolyubyvi, but the light has to be scattered later in the morning. Winter lighting should be maximized - south window, as daylight is short.
Watering. Watering should be every ten days during the winter or "dry" season (September-October and March-April). When growing a new course in March-May, every three-four days in September and etc.
An excess moisture, decay can occur roots, the leaves appear at the base of the black spots. With insufficient watering, pseudobulb shrivel, buds and flowers early fall.
Humidity can be increased by means of spraying in the summer, pretty close to 50-60 %, but indoors is much lower humidity. If humidity is insufficient, it will dry end leaves, and buds and flowers crumble.
Fertilizer. You pidzhyvlyaty throughout the year, combining them with watering. If you use a special fertilizer "For Orchids" at each watering, the concentration must be very low. When fertilizer every few weeks - the concentration of nutrients may be higher, but we need to water the plant well in advance with clean water (a few hours to "procedures") and only then use the fertilizer.
Transplantation. Better to do in the spring. In the chosen pot should be enough space for the development of a large and quickly growing root system and at the same time, avoid overly spacious tanks. Moderation - the motto when choosing dishes.
Cymbidium grow well in standard plastic pots without additional cuts, but the drain at the bottom of the pot (at least one!) Sure, as does drainage. You can use pieces of foam, stone or pebbles.
Requires light soil that skip air and moisture. Fits everything from simple options "bark moss + coal" to complex "recipes".
Ideally Cymbidium roots should grow strongly to the bottom of the pot! Not earlier than six weeks after the transplant, you can check whether the chosen substrate. It should be gently shake the plant from the pot and look at the roots. If new roots begin to grow sideways or "twist" in diameter pot - soil chosen correctly. It is necessary to repeat transplants in less dense substrate.
After transplantation is necessary to maintain the substrate moist all the time, that the formation of new roots, usually in early summer.
From early spring and throughout the summer and is laying the formation of flower buds at the base of young Pseudobulb.
Cymbidium transplant should be no more than once every 3 years. Nayryasnishe blooming flowers and large shrubs were observed in adults in the third year after transplantation.
Propagation. Division - this is the easiest method of propagation of orchids pseudo tubers. Cymbidium divide the transplant if they came to be in the pot, and Pseudobulb "emerge" from the ground. Remove the plant from the pot, loosen the roots, then with a sharp knife cut a fragment of at least one meaty Pseudobulb and several countries. Put each piece separately. Watering lightly spray the plant every day to new leaves or shoots, confirming that the plant pryynyalasya.
